South Birmingham Breast Screening Service
Telephone: 0121 335 8050 or email: screening@uhb.nhs.uk
The South Birmingham Breast Screening Service is part of the National Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and invites over 18,000 local women for screening each year. We provide a free breast screening service for women aged between 50 and 71, resident in Heart of Birmingham and South Birmingham. If you are over 71 you may contact us for an appointment as you will not be automatically invited, you can self-refer every 3 years.
We aim to provide and promote an efficient and effective, high quality breast screening service, to all eligible women within a caring environment.
Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. To do this, an x-ray is taken of each breast (mammogram). Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment.
