THE WARWICKSHIRE, SOLIHULL AND COVENTRY BREAST SCREENING SERVICE HAVE NOW RESUMED SCREENING.THE WAY WE INVITE YOU TO BE SCREENED IS CHANGING. For those clients who already have a pre-booked appointment please attend this if possible. Those due to be screened will be sent an open invitation letter. Clients will then need to contact the screening office to arrange an appointment. Please do not contact the office until you are in receipt of this letter. If you are aged 71 or over you can now self refer for a mammogram if you have not had one in the last 3yrs please contact us to arrange this. Capacity will be greatly reduced due to ensuring a safe environment for both the public and staff and therefore availability will be limited. In the meantime, please remember to be breast aware and should you develop any breast symptoms contact your local GP. The Warwickshire, Solihull & Coventry Breast Screening Service is part of the National Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and is one of the largest breast screening services in England, inviting around 55,000 women for screening each year. We provide a free breast screening service for well women aged between 50 and 71, resident in Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.

We aim to provide and promote an efficient and effective, high quality breast screening service, to all eligible women within a caring environment.

Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. To do this, an x-ray is taken of each breast (mammogram). Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment.

Screening is normally organised according to your GP practice. Once every three years your GP practice will be contacted and all eligible women will be invited.

Text reminder service

Breast screening has been available in Coventry for 30 years now and sadly a lot of women miss their appointments. To see if this trend can be reversed, we are now offering you a text reminder service just prior to your appointment. You can give us your mobile phone number in either of two ways:

• Telephone the screening office on 024 7696 7163 and leave your name, address and mobile number on the voicemail service.
