When we screen

Once every three years your GP practice will be contacted and all women eligible for screening will be invited. You do not have to contact us to make an appointment, as we will ensure that you receive your invitation at the appropriate time.

Important notes

• If your practice is not listed - please type in the name of the practice in the search box below and click Search


• If your practice is still not shown then for your practice eligible individuals are invited based on the date of their previous screening. As a result, invitations are sent on a rolling basis throughout the year.


• For the Churchmere Medical Group, individuals with an SY13 postcode will be invited to our mobile unit at Whitchurch Community Hospital. Whereas individuals with an SY12 postcode will be invited to our mobile unit at Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.


• All practices screened at the Princess Royal Hospital or Royal Shrewsbury Hospital are invited on an individual patient basis, as and when they are due. So any dates given for these practices will be previous screening dates.

The screening programme also offers women over 70 a free breast screen every three years. Women over 70 who have not been screened for more than 3 years are encouraged to call the unit to make an appointment that suits them. The unit telephone number is 01743 261080.

Not every woman will receive an appointment as soon as she is 50. You will receive your first appointment before your 53rd birthday and therefore there is no need to contact us for an appointment.

If it has been more than three years since your last screening appointment then please contact us as soon as possible.

If it has been less than three years since your last appointment there is no need to contact us at this time.

Please note that if at any time you notice any changes to your breasts or have any breast symptoms of any kind then please contact your GP practice immediately.
